Bolsover District Council is dedicated to helping the environment and reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint. So much so, that in the last few weeks a new Climate Change Officer has started working for the authority. Bolsover TV went to meet him to find out his plans for the council.

You may remember Bolsover TV visited a Whitwell man who was creating sculptures using unwanted logs and a chainsaw. Well, the design created from a fallen tree in the village has now been sited in Whitwell Community Centre’s garden.
We went down to see artist Ben and chair of Whitwell parish council, Tom Munro to find out more.

Did you know that you could recycle your old clothing and shoes with your normal burgundy bin collection? Recycling your clothes and shoes could not be simpler. Take your unwanted items, place them in a bag and put that bag either inside your burgundy bin or on top of it if there is no room inside. The bag is then sent to organisations such as the Salvation army who sort through the items and either donate them to charitable causes or sell them on to provide vital funds for charities across the country.

Our Council Chair, Councillor Tom Munro has joined with SNAP Fitness in Bolsover to support Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust as his Charity of the Year for 2024/25.
Councillor Munro made the declaration to support the charity as so many local people are supported by the incredible work of the Trust on a daily basis.
The charity is responsible for the £2million health and wellbeing hub which provides colleagues employed by the trust with free access 24/7.

Grants are being made available for local community or voluntary groups in Bolsover District to help them develop community facilties and activities.
The grant scheme has been developed by Bolsover District Council in partnership with Efficiency East Midlands and applications for the scheme are welcomed from those that can demonstrate local support for a project.
