The votes from yesterday's election have been counted and Natalie Fleet (Lab) has been duly elected.

We are to spend £15million across the district as councillors agreed at a recent Executive meeting where the Regeneration Fund money would be allocated.

The majority of the money, some £5million, will be spent on public realm improvements in Bolsover Town. £1million will be spent on shop fronts and facades in South Normanton, Clowne and Bolsover as well as Creswell, Whitwell, Pinxton and Tibshelf.

£4.3million will be used to purchase and reconfigure the former coop, the former White Swan public house and 36 and 36a Market Place in Bolsover.

£700,000 will go to refurbish the former Church Hall in Pinxton and £4million will be spent on constructing a Green Skills and Retrofit Skills Centre in Shirebrook.

A trail following the history of Bolsover has been launched by Bolsover Civic Society. The Bolsover Town Trail guides walkers around some of the town's buildings that are of particular importance and historical significance, and many of which contain blue plaques.

A three day festival is coming to Barlborough in July as the Big Barlborough Festival will be staged from 12 to 14 of July.

Bringing together a number of events that are normally staged throughout the year, the festival celebrates what a fantastic village Barlborough is to live in and visit.

With events such as a comedy night in church to a fun run on the Sunday, the festival promises to be a fun weekend for the whole family.

A local history event is taking place between 11am to 1pm. The event is being held by a Masters student who wants to help local people gain a clearer narrative of their past. 

There will be a small pop-up exhibition and plenty of tea, cake and conversation.
