A Glapwell man has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a microchipping notice and allowing his dog to be in a public place without a collar with the name and address of the owner.
We successfully prosecuted Paul Retallic of Hawthorne Avenue, Glapwell at Derby Justice Court and the defendant was ordered to pay a total of £1,623 including costs to us.
In July 2023, one of our Enforcement Officers attended a vets practice in Bolsover after being informed a stray dog had been taken to them by a member of the public.
When the officer scanned the dog's microchip it was unregistered, and as the dog had no collar the officer was unable to determine who the dog belonged to. Eventually, Mr Retallic came forward as the owner and he was served with a legal notice requiring the details of the microchip to be updated within 21 days. He failed to comply and therefore the matter was taken to court.

The Robin Hood Line (RHL) Community Rail Partnership (CRP) is celebrating after attaining accreditation for a second year running from the Department for Transport (DfT).
The CRP involves a number of partners and accreditation is formal recognition by the DfT that a community rail partnership operates to a high standard and that its objectives and activities are supported by the Government.
To demonstrate this, the partnership submitted financial and governance information, along with a summary of its achievements and a draft of its action plan for the year ahead.
The partnership was able to show a collaborative approach to activities, representing the voices of the communities while delivering the Community Rail Strategy.

A Carr Vale resident has been successfully prosecuted and ordered to pay £616 for abandoning a vehicle in a nearby street.
In July 2023, we investigated a report of an abandoned vehicle on an access road to the rear of Sutton Hall Road. The vehicle was located and deemed to be a risk to public health due to its condition.
The vehicle was registered to Mark Walters of Sutton Hall Road and despite several opportunities, he failed to arrange for the removal of the vehicle. The defendant was offered a £200 fixed penalty notice to avoid prosecution but failed to pay it, so we took the matter to court and arranged for the removal and disposal of the vehicle.
