We are celebrating the first birthday of our company, Dragonfly Development Ltd.
Established in September 2022 after the collapse of our preferred contractor, Dragonfly Development Ltd has gone from strength-to-strength and has already completed two construction projects.
Not only has the company been formed and a board established with sustainable working practices, but they have employed staff, re-engaged local contractors, and completed two major prominent build projects.
Nineteen new homes have been built at the Willows in Whaley Thorns as part of our Bolsover Homes scheme and a new £3million Heritage and Wellbeing Centre has been constructed and opened in Creswell for the Parish Council.

We are set to become the first authority in Derbyshire to introduce a Nuisance Vehicle Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
The PSPO came into force across Bolsover District from Thursday 28 September and has a number of stipulations prohibiting any person from participating in or being a spectator in things like a car cruising event, performing stunts or playing loud music causing a nuisance.
From December 2022 to May 2023, the council and police received 201 calls relating to nuisance vehicles, with problem hot spots centred around Shirebrook, Bolsover and Shuttlewood and South Normanton and Pinxton.

Bolsover Drama Group are set to perform one of the all-time classic movies - Calendar Girls.
This great British comedy is based on a true story of a group of middle-aged Yorkshire women who produced a nude calendar to raise money for Leukaemia Research under the auspices of the Women's Institutes in April 1999, after the husband of one of their members dies from cancer.

One of the country’s biggest brass festivals is set to take place in Shirebrook this weekend (Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October).
With over 50 bands taking part in the five-section contest, it will be held at the Sports Direct Arena, part of the Sport Direct UK Academy in Shirebrook and will be live-streamed across the globe.
Contest organiser Carole Crompton commented: “We are delighted to be able to be able to host the contest at this new venue and thank the company for their support. Their Shirebrook base offers excellent facilities, including extensive parking."
