Foods labelled as organic must meet strict regulations on how they have been grown and produced. All organic food companies and farms are inspected yearly to ensure that they meet the high standards required for organic food under European law.
When you buy organic you can be sure that the products you are buying:
- Contain no artificial additives or preservatives
- Contain fewer pesticides
- Conform to high standards of animal welfare
- Contain no genetically modified ingredients
- Have been produced in a way that is sustainable
Why not pledge to only buy second hand items during the month of September?
The effect of fast fashion is extremely harmful to the environment but moving away from online retailers and cheap clothes shops and taking the time to browse vintage, second hand and charity shops means you can do your bit for the environment and grab a bargain at the same time.
And why not promise to donate some of your old clothes, bags, shoes, books or household items as well and keep the donate, reusue, rewear and restyle system going.

The current Dog Management Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) we have in place is due to expire on 26 October 2023 and we are seeking your views on a proposed extension of the PSPO for another three-years.
Extending it will mean it lasts for a further three-years, until October 2026.
In response to residents' complaints regarding responsible dog ownership, we introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in October 2020 which over the past few years has allowed us to deal with complaints, take enforcement action where necessary, and improve the environment in the District.
