On this week's episode of Bolsover TV:
- We visit the Bolsover Homes development in Whaley Thorns for an update on the first Future Homes being built there
- We find out more about an important planning consultation which will improve public engagement with the planning application process
- Bolsover Drama Group are getting ready for a Perfect Wedding
- And we talk to Jack Baddams about the importance of bird ringing and how it helps us understand the habits of our feathered friends
Following our announcement in April, we are now looking to start making energy saving grant payments from mid-May onwards. Please do not contact us if you have not received your payment by this date as they are being done in batches, will take a number of weeks to complete and we need to undertake the necessary security checks to ensure a household is eligible.
This re-iterates the Council Leader, Steve Fritchley's comments that payments would be made sooner than September, but gave officers the necessary time to negotiate with software providers the best way to make the payments to those eligible.
As a polite reminder, there have been some potential scams regarding this and we can confirm we will not ask anyone for their bank details over the phone or via email, so please do not give these out to anyone.

9 to 15 May
This year's theme is loneliness.
Loneliness is affecting more and more of us in the UK and has had a huge impact on our physical and mental health during the pandemic. Our connection to other people and our community is fundamental to protecting our mental health and we need to find better ways of tackling the epidemic of loneliness. We can all play a part in this.

Local bird ringer and renowned ornithologist Jack Baddams talks us through the process of bird ringing and about the importance of this practice and why it is so essential in helping us understand the movements and habits of our feathered friends.

The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how we will engage with the public in the development of our local plan, during our stage of the neighbourhood plan preparation process and on development management cases/planning applications.
Our new draft document responds to our desire to improve how our communities engage with planning matters in Bolsover District, so please have a look through the draft Statement of Community Involvement and let us know what you think to our suggested options for improving the way we carry out our plan making and planning applications work.
To help this public consultation, we have put together some of the key questions we would like your thoughts on and these are set out in our online survey

As a progressive and ambitious authority we are always looking at ways to promote Bolsover District and what is happening.
We already provide numerous opportunities for businesses, groups and charities to promote themselves through our Bolsover TV channel, Intouch magazine, website and other publications and we are delighted to announce that we are installing four digital display screens in our town centres – Bolsover, Clowne, Shirebrook and South Normanton – where we can advertise what is happening.
