The Ladywood Estate Regeneration Newsletter
There is still plenty of time for Ladywood residents to complete our Resident & Community Charter survey.
What you tell us will help us to develop the Resident & Community Charter for the Ladywood Estate Regeneration Scheme.
This charter will set out Birmingham City Council's offer and commitments to residents within the Ladywood Estate Regeneration scheme area to ensure the community is treated fairly.
It's vital for you to have your say and to get involved. So please complete this survey and forward this email to anyone you know who lives in the area.
Surgeries to help people complete the Resident & Community Charter survey
As a Ladywood resident, we would really like you to complete our Resident & Community Charter survey.
Residents can complete the survey online, but for those who may need some assistance to complete the survey, we are arranging a series of group surgeries where they can be completed in person.
Please let your neighbours, friends and relatives know about these surgeries if you think they would like to attend.
Each surgery will run for 1 hour.
- In the first half, we will share the workshop feedback (this will help you to answer the survey question meaningfully)
- In the second half, support will be on hand to help you complete the survey form
Do I have to book to attend a surgery?
No booking is required. To attend one of these surgeries, all you have to do is turn up.
We have been told by many people within the community that they want to be able to attend surgeries or workshops like this without having to book. We have listened to your feedback, and these sessions will not require you to book in advance.
We will do our utmost to ensure everyone can be accommodated. However, as the surgeries are not prebooked, we cannot guarantee entry beyond capacity. For this reason, you may have to wait or attempt to join another surgery. We have designed the sessions to allow us to help as many people as possible.
When will they take place?
Surgeries take place at River Of Life Ministry Church, Gilby Rd, Birmingham, B16 8RG.
Thursday 1st February
Surgery 1 - 2pm - 3pm
Surgery 2 - 3pm – 4pm
Friday 2nd February
Surgery 3 - 10am – 11am
Surgery 4 - 11am – 12pm
Will there be more surgeries?
Yes. More surgeries will be made available. However, before we organise any more, we would like to review how well this approach works to ensure we are meeting the community's needs.
Aston Villa investing in Ladywood
With Aston Villa riding high in the premiership league table, it seems only fitting to share some of this success with Ladywood.
The council is in initial talks with Aston Villa about becoming a part funder and provider of community support services, which will improve the lives of Ladywood residents.
Villa has agreed to deliver an initial 10-week programme at Nelson Primary School, providing a range of sporting and educational activities to improve the life chances of young people. We will publicise this further when the programme commences, with photos and an update from the young people involved.
St John's and St Peter's Church of England Academy have also been working with Aston Villa Community Foundation to receive support with sporting activity and help young people realise their dreams and aspirations.
We are hopeful that Aston Villa will become a key organisation providing support to Ladywood in the future.
What is Reset, Reshape, Restart?
Birmingham City Council has severe financial challenges which it must face and difficult decisions need to be taken. The council needs to Reset, Reshape and Restart.
A programme of improvement and change has now commenced. The first phase of this is to reset the council finances, as well as our services and how they are delivered.
We will then need to reshape our services. To do this, we will need your help. We want to hear your views about our services, what matters to you, and decide what we will have to change.
We will then put these decisions into action, to restart the council, putting the council on a footing that will benefit the city and its citizens for the long term.
