As a proud City of Sanctuary, we know Birmingham residents want to help the people of Ukraine. Birmingham Asylum Refugee and Migrant Support (BARMS) team is working with groups and charities to coordinate help.

The Birmingham 2022 Festival programme has launched!
Masterchef’s arrival means city is cooking good!
The popular BBC television series MasterChef is relocating to Birmingham. The move has been hailed as a boost for longstanding plans to regenerate the Digbeth area of the city.
Bringing empty homes back into use
It’s National Empty Homes Week. In 2020/2021, the council’s Empty Property Team brought 305 homes back into residential use despite the Covid-19 pandemic. From April 2021 to January 2022, the team brought an additional 220 homes back into use.

City centre CCTV improvements
Work to improve the council’s CCTV network around the city centre – which would see 24 new cameras installed and 30 existing cameras upgraded – is due to begin in March.
