Stadium

 

Birmingham’s redeveloped Alexander Stadium is set to provide a new base for up to a thousand Birmingham City University sports and exercise students, leaving a major sporting legacy in the city.


Birmingham City Council officers and staff from partner organisations joined forces for a Love Your Street Day in Alum Rock on 28 August. 


Camera enforcement of Sheepcote Street bus lane began on Monday 2 September. Remember cross the line, pay the fine. There's more information on brum bus lanes here


A major counterfeiting operation - Operation Beorma, has been disrupted after clothing and equipment worth hundreds of thousands of pounds were seized in a raid on a Birmingham factory. 


Following the introduction of the civil enforcement policy earlier this year Birmingham City Council has issued its first civil penalty against a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) landlord in the Small Heath area.

Cycle September

 

This September we’re joining the Global cycling challenge for Cycle September with Love to Ride. Cycle anywhere, anytime and encourage others to do the same to earn points. The more points you earn, the further you climb the leader boards and the better your chances of winning prizes. 


The much loved Kings Heath Street Festival returns for an end of summer bonanza taking place on York Road 8 September 12noon-8pm. This free event is open to all and will showcase the eclectic variety of Kings Heath and beyond.


Birmingham Weekender returns with a weekend of free performances in Digbeth from 4-6 October. A collaboration between individual artists and small and large regional arts organisations that will shine a light on the city’s rich arts and cultural offer. 


The Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run returns on 13 October. Take your place as the city comes together for this half marathon challenge. Experience the support of the community all the way along the 13.1 mile course through the heart of Birmingham.


Fierce Festival embracing theatre, dance, music, installations, activism, digital practices and parties takes placein theatres, galleries and other out- of-the-ordinary spaces in Birmingham from 15-20 October. 


The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra – one of the world’s great orchestras, celebrates 100 years with major premieres and special events this Autumn, including a series of new commissions from some of the boldest composers in the world today.
