An outline planning application for the second phase of the Commonwealth Games Village housing legacy scheme has been submitted, and Birmingham City Council and Walsall Road Allotments have found a way forward.


Now that Birmingham has all-out elections every 4 years there are no local elections here on 2nd May so don’t worry if you haven’t received a poll card. However, we are currently scheduled to hold European Parliamentary elections on 23 May so if you are registered to vote expect to receive a poll card towards the end of April. The deadline to register to vote is midnight on 7 May. If you are not registered to vote, or if you are unsure and want to check, you can do so here.


Plans for 6,000 new homes in north Birmingham and up to 10,000 new jobs were discussed at Birmingham City Council’s cabinet this week. The Langley Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) and Peddimore employment development in Sutton Coldfield are key elements of the Birmingham Development Plan.


Think BLUE, let cyclists through: The Birmingham Cycle Revolution A34 cycle route, the first of two fully segregated cycle routes in Birmingham, is now open for use.


Refuse and recycling collections will take place as usual this Bank Holiday weekend. If your collection is scheduled for Good Friday or Easter Monday please leave your bins out as normal.


A proposed new Travel Assist policy following public consultation has been approved by cabinet committee this week.
