BrumBid2022


Birmingham City Council’s residential tower blocks are to be fitted with sprinkler systems and other fire suppression measures following the Grenfell Tower tragedy in London.


Birmingham has unveiled its vision and logo as it officially bids for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Find out more – and get involved. A new Ofsted report has found that Birmingham “is making steady progress, and has taken some important steps in improving services for its children and young people”.  


We're award winners! The council has been recognised with a number of national awards across a diverse range of services including its pioneering bike scheme, school catering, in building traineeships and social housing – and a 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' inspired floral display!


Organisations with ideas on how to encourage parents and pupils to reduce school car journeys are being invited to bid for funds from the Birmingham Young Active Travel Trust.

Food Festival


There’s plenty to savour at the Colmore Food Festival, from 30 June-1 July.


Zee Sandwell and Birmingham Mela, from 1-2 July, is the Uk’s Biggest Asian music festival, celebrating South Asian Culture.


Coffee fans should love the Birmingham Coffee Festival on 1 and 2 July.


Experience funky beats at the Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival, from 7-9 July.

Team Trials


Britain’s best athletes are returning to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on 1 and 2 July. They’ll battle it out for a place on the British Athletics team for the World Championships this August.
