Visitors to Retford Kings' Park have been enjoying a summer of laughter, music and magical storytelling at Talegate Theatre's 'Panto in the Park'! Popular performances of The Wizard of Oz and Rapunzel have already entertained audiences of all ages.
If you haven't yet had the chance to attend, or would like to enjoy another fantastic outdoor show, there's still time.
Talegate Theatre's finale, Sleeping Beauty, is coming up on Wednesday, 26th August, promising plenty of free fun for the whole family. The show will start at 2pm and last approximately 50 minutes.
So bring a picnic, gather your family and friends, and join us for another memorable afternoon of outdoor theatre!
 Worksop comes together for a day of family fun
Hundreds of visitors enjoyed a day of free family fun in Worksop town centre on Saturday 8 August, as local organisations and businesses came together to put on a day of activities and entertainment for the community.
Visitors of all ages got creative with clay modelling, face painting, an interactive graffiti workshop and pavement chalk art, with more than 200 people adding their own chalk creations to the town centre.

Know Your Place: Trent Valley
Know Your Place Trent Valley is a collaborative project, bringing together communities either side of the River Trent across parts of four local authority areas - Bassetlaw, West Lindsey, Newark and Sherwood, and North Kesteven.
The aim is to provide a consistent engagement opportunity to residents living near the former coal-fired power stations at West Burton, Cottam, and High Marnham, recognising the impact the redevelopment of these sites and related schemes are likely to have on the local area.
There's a lot on the horizon in the Trent Valley. Join the big conversation about all things local and help to shape how the present and future of your local community is documented and understood.
The final face-to-face engagement event within Bassetlaw will take place on Thursday 27 August, from 4pm to 7pm, at North and South Wheatley Village Hall, Sturton Road, South Wheatley.

Worksop Together seeks views on community buildings
Worksop Together is inviting residents, businesses, learners and workers to share their views as part of its latest community survey.
In 2025, engagement with more than 700 people who live, learn or work in Worksop helped shape the priorities included in the Worksop Together investment plan, which successfully secured funding in April 2026. One of the top 20 priorities identified was the role of buildings in supporting the town’s future.
This second short Worksop Together community survey for 2026 focuses on which buildings in Worksop could offer the best opportunities for additional community spaces, and which empty buildings people would most like to see brought back into use.
Feedback gathered through the survey will help inform future funding and investment decisions made by the Worksop Together Pride in Place Board.

 Glass Recycling Service Delivers Early Success
Bassetlaw residents and waste collection crews are being praised after more than 770 tonnes of glass have been collected since the launch of the Council’s new kerbside glass recycling service.
Introduced at the end of April, the service has been welcomed by households across the district, helping to ensure hundreds of tonnes of glass bottles, jars and containers are recycled instead of being placed in general waste.

A specialist learning hub based at Sandhill Lake in Worksop is going from strength to strength thanks to a growing partnership between staff and Bassetlaw District Council.
Around 18 months ago, the lake was the focus of an intense clean-up that has helped to regenerate one of the town’s natural beauty spots, and in turn provide a safer, calmer and more engaging environment for its students.

Following the successful completion of a major project to preserve its extensive collection, Bassetlaw Museum is expanding its opening hours, allowing visitors to enjoy the museum five days a week from Tuesday 1st September.

Bassetlaw Museum brings Film Noir fashion and local cinema history to life
Bassetlaw Museum is inviting visitors to explore the 1940s and 1950s fashions through its atmospheric Film Noir exhibition, 'Dressed to Kill'.
Using pieces from the museum’s fashion and textiles collection, the exhibition brings the era to life with sharp tailoring, elegant eveningwear and striking accessories that reflect the drama and glamour of classic noir cinema.
Visitors can explore outfits and accessories worn by local people such as Mrs Catherine Darley of Ranby Hall, including hats, gloves, shoes, handbags and eye-catching snakeskin-style leather heels. The display also features an outfit by Montague Burton, 'The Tailor of Taste', who was the first to establish a chain of tailor shops across the country.

Help Shape Tuxford's Future
Bassetlaw District Council is inviting residents to share their views on proposed improvements to community spaces in Tuxford.
Consultation is underway on two major project options, improvements to Gilbert Avenue Playing Field or the development of a new skate park, with residents being asked which option they would prefer.
It’s in partnership with Tuxford Town Council and is being funded by the government’s Town Streetscaping fund which aims to improve where people live, create employment opportunities and boost community facilities.

Carlton-in-Lindrick Neighbourhood Plan Referendum
On Thursday, 3rd September 2026 a Neighbourhood Plan Referendum will take place to ask residents in Carlton-in-Lindrick whether they would like the Council to use the neighbourhood plan to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.
