 Join a Tenant and Resident Association (TRA)
TRAs are community groups formed by residents to represent their neighbourhoods and build a community spirit. They work with the Council and help with issues raised by their tenants. They also coordinate activities and trips for local people to encourage involvement and making new friends.
We currently have TRAs in Balmoral - Worksop, Devonshire Road - Harworth and Mattersey Thorpe - Doncaster. If you would like to join an existing TRA or have us help you set up a new group, please contact tenant.engagement@bassetlaw.gov.uk

 Meet the Rents Team
Our team of Rent Officers are here to help you with any issues you may have in paying your rent, as well as providing housing related benefit advice and assistance with making relevant applications.
We will handle your case with professionalism, sensitivity and in accordance with Data Protection legislation. In addition to negotiating rent arrears repayment plans, we can offer referrals to our Money Advice Team for in-depth debt or budgeting advice, as well as referrals to our Tenancy Sustainment Team for additional support and assistance in maintaining your tenancy.

Crisis and Resilience Fund
A Crisis and Resilience Fund has been created to offer emergency help to people on low incomes who face sudden financial difficulties.
The fund, which replaces the Household Support Fund, is administered by Nottinghamshire County Council and gives short-term, one-off support to help with essential costs such as food, energy bills, and basic household items.
It is designed for people experiencing a recent financial shock, such as an unexpected loss of income, dealing with a household emergency, or escaping domestic abuse.
To qualify, applicants must be aged 16 or over, live in Nottinghamshire, and have a household income of less than £35,000. They must also show evidence of their financial situation and explain the crisis they are facing.
The support is only for urgent, essential needs such as food and groceries, and utility costs and cannot be used for ongoing living costs, debts, or everyday expenses.
Each application is assessed individually, and people can apply online with decisions made as quickly as possible. If an application is refused, applicants can request a review within seven days.
In addition, the scheme also funds resilience and support services aimed at helping households maintain stability and improve their longer-term financial resilience.

An Independent Living Centre in Harworth and Bircotes has welcomed new residents following an extensive refurbishment programme.
Westmorland House will provide accessible one-bedroom apartments across two floors, bringing high quality, modern accessible and independent accommodation to older residents from across Bassetlaw.
The first residents have begun to move in with their homes benefiting from energy-efficient central heating, a fitted kitchen, level-access bathroom with shower facilities, waterproof flooring in key areas, and a 24-hour emergency call system with secure door entry and personal alarm.

A new Housing Repairs Policy, aiming to improve the delivery of repair and maintenance services for tenants, has been backed by Bassetlaw District Council cabinet members.
At a meeting on Tuesday 14th July councillors agreed to the proposal which aims to ensure repairs are completed right first time, enables the council to plan work in a better and more efficient way, and clearly sets out who is responsible for specific repair and maintenance issues.
It follows consultation with tenants and other stakeholders which revealed of the 591 individual responses, they were largely positive in all the proposed areas for change, with 73.43% having no concerns about the proposed responsibilities or revised timescales.

Bassetlaw District Council is exploring ambitious plans which could transform support for residents with life limiting conditions by providing ready-to-move, fully adapted homes when they are needed most.
Under the proposed scheme, several properties would be set aside or acquired, and adapted to a high standard, helping to improve quality of life, support independence and enable smoother transitions from their home to a more suitable provision.
