Could you help young people in your community choose their future career?
Futures is working with the EMCCA Careers Hub and the East Midlands Combined County Authority on a new pilot supporting 200+ local students who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
Over 65% of these young people have never experienced a real workplace and may not see working life modelled at home.
Futures are looking for local businesses to host a small group of five students for just two hours and could include something as simple as:
- A brief tour of your workplace
- Meeting staff and hearing about their jobs
- A mini-interactive task
- Seeing what a typical day looks like for an entry level role in your business
- A chance to ask questions about the industry
If you feel that your business can offer this, Futures would like to hear from you. Please express your interest at phillippa.marks@futuresadvice.org

Work Experience Matters: Work experience gives young people a vital insight into the world of work. It helps build confidence, develop employability skills and understand how their learning connects to real jobs and career pathways at a crucial stage in their education.
Benefits for Local Businesses: By offering a work experience placement, employers can support the development of Bassetlaw’s future workforce while strengthening links with their local community. Many businesses value the opportunity to inspire young people, engage staff and demonstrate social value through meaningful community involvement.
