Business Rates
Information about business rates is available on the council’s website, including information on the changes that came into effect on 1 April 2026.
Overview of what’s changed
Retail, Hospitality & Leisure (RHL) Relief ended on 31 March 2026
The temporary 40% relief finished at the end of the 2025/26 financial year, which has been replaced by lower multipliers for eligible RHL properties.
A full Business Rates Revaluation is taking effect and started on the 1 April 2026
Properties will be revalued based on market rental evidence from 1 April 2024.
New business rates multipliers started in April 2026
Lower multipliers will replace current temporary reliefs for properties with rateable values below £500,000.
Support schemes continue
Transitional Relief and the Supporting Small Business Scheme will help limit sudden increases in bills.
Green incentives remain
100% relief continues for eligible electric vehicle charging points and EV only forecourts.

Business Surgeries
Monthly business surgeries will continue into our new financial year. With the first being held this month on Wednesday 29 April 2026 at Retford Enterprise.
Hourly slots are available and you can get support from our business experts Fiona and Dawn. Whether you are a pre-start or business looking to expand, our advisers are here to help.

Two further surgeries will be held on Wednesday 27 May and Wednesday 24 June, with bookings opening nearer the time.

Through the Government’s Pride in Place Programme, Worksop has secured £20 million over 10 years to support town centre regeneration. To help create a more vibrant high street, £120,000 in Business Support Grant funding is available in 2026–27 to bring empty properties back into use and support local businesses.
