Our new Glass Recycling Collections will begin on Monday 27th April and we’ll be collecting from your area over the next six weeks.
You should have already received a letter that tells you when your first collection date will take place, along with collection dates for the year ahead. So please check this before putting your bin out.
Your collections will take place every six weeks from your kerbside in the same way your blue and green bins do. Simply put your bin at the kerbside before 6am on the day of your collection. If you have an Assisted Bin Collection, this will also take place for your Black Bin.
The following items can be put in your Black Bin for recycling:
- Wine and beer bottles
- Sauce and condiments jars
- Cosmetics jars
- Perfume bottles
- Medicine bottles
- Glass bubble bath or bath salts containers
Please ensure that these items are clean and you’ve removed any lids that are not made of glass.
For more information about all of our waste and recycling collections, please visit our website.
Reminder - you are now able to recycle even more kerbside! Just follow these simple steps:
- Rinse out your items and leave the lid on.
- Make sure your items are dry.

Retford Charter Day 2026
Every year, Retford celebrates its royal charter in style, throwing a huge town and country fayre to which you're all invited. Retford Charter Day 2026 takes place across Retford Town Centre and the historic Kings' Park.
Entry and all-day family entertainment is free! This is looking like the biggest Charter Day on record, with over 100 stallholders, a Market Square jam-packed with rides from the famous Tuby funfairs, many of your favourite Retford businesses participating, and blockbuster entertainment.
And from the historic to the modern, for the first year ever, Charter Day will also have a digital event guide – that means you can see every stallholder and entertainer on the map and what time you need to be there. Now you can’t miss a thing!
Please note: this event is not organised by Bassetlaw District Council.
