Spotlight: Tenant Engagement - Your Voice at the Heart of Change
Real community change starts with being heard. Tenant engagement puts residents at the centre of decisions that shape their homes and neighbourhoods. Officers Raj and Anita are dedicated to working alongside tenants to listen, learn, and turn ideas into action.
By creating open, accessible ways to get involved, they’re building trust, improving services, and strengthening community connections.
Because when residents lead the conversation, better homes and stronger communities follow.

Refurbishment at The Mews - Improving Homes and Creating Opportunities
Exciting refurbishment works are underway at The Mews to improve communal areas and ensure they remain safe, comfortable and fit for the future.
Delivered by Bassetlaw District Council's appointed contractors, Groundworks, the project is also supporting local college students who are gaining valuable hands-on experience as part of their training.
Working under skilled supervision, students are applying classroom learning in a real working environment - building confidence, developing practical skills and preparing for future careers in construction and maintenance. To recognise their hard work, the Council has provided each student with a toolbag and starter kit to support their next steps.
For residents, these works represent long-term investment in their homes and community. While some disruption is unavoidable, all works are carefully managed, with surveyors overseeing quality, safety and communication throughout.
This project is about more than refurbishment - it’s about investing in people, supporting local talent and strengthening community pride. We'd like to thank residents for their patience and the students for their enthusiasm as we work together to deliver lasting improvements at The Mews.

Be scam aware
We have been made aware of a recent scam targeting users of our Lifeline service.
The scammer contacted residents over the phone and claimed the call was in relation to paying for their lifeline service, before requesting credit card details in order to make the payment. They told the customer this was due to Bassetlaw District Council switching over to providing a digital service - which is untrue.
Please note that we will never contact Lifeline users via telephone to ask for their credit card or bank details.
If you are suspicious of a caller claiming to be in touch on behalf of the Council, please feel free to check the legitimacy of the call with our Supported Housing Team via 0800 590 542.
You can also visit the National Cyber Security Centre for information on how to protect yourself from scams, and report scam phone calls.

Rents for homes owned and operated by Bassetlaw District Council will rise in line with the Government's National Social Rent Policy, which applies to all social housing providers across England.
Cabinet members met on Tuesday 6th January 2026 to approve a rent increase of 4.8% for its 6,504 council homes to help meet demand for services and repairs, the Decent Homes Standards and further investment in tenants' homes.
Every penny received from tenants rent funds housing services. Last year over £15.7 million pounds was re-invested into the housing stock and services to tenants including providing decent homes which includes installing new kitchens, bathrooms and central heating, making sure tenants homes are safe and meet the requirements of Awaab’s Law, and ensuring our estates are kept clean, tidy and up to date.
