Bassetlaw District Council’s Licensing Committee has approved four amendments to its Street Trading Policy and has now referred this decision to Full Council in March, where councillors will decide if the policy should be adopted.
Two of the amendments put to the Licensing Committee on Wednesday 14th January included the introduction of a new type of street trading consent called a ‘Premise Pitch Consent’. This will allow business premises, such as pubs, to host licensed Mobile Street Traders, without the 20-minute restriction that is normally applied.
A further amendment will allow mobile street traders and businesses applying for a Premise Pitch Consent to pay their licencing fees in instalments over the course of the period of their consent, rather than in full at the point of application.

Three businesses in Worksop and Retford are welcoming the new year in new premises on the high street after securing funding from Bassetlaw District Council.
Treat Yourself and C. H. Lettings in Retford and Bistro U Budynia in Worksop received a share of £20k to spend on improvements including new flooring, decorating, signage and equipment.
The funding has come from the council’s High Street Shop Fit Out Grants, which support new businesses with structural works or equipment needed to trade from currently vacant premises within town centres.

The curtain has risen on some new improvements that will help Retford’s Majestic Theatre to attract more visitors and make the building more accessible.
A £1,300 Community Grant from a group of Bassetlaw District Councillors has transformed the auditorium with a brand-new counter fitted next to the confectionery counter, allowing the theatre to improve the customer experience, increase sales of products such as sweets and soft drinks, and provide improved accessibility for disabled patrons.

A road closure will be in place for Park Street, outside Eyres in Worksop, from Monday 9th February until Friday 20th February.
The road will be fully closed between the junction of Westgate and Newgate Street, which will prevent traffic travelling directly from Bridge Street to Park Street, Sparken Hill and Newgate Street, and visa versa.
Motorists visiting the Newgate Street Medical Practice, pharmacies, the Savoy Cinema, and the Bassetlaw District Council Offices and car parks, should follow the diversion signs or use other local routes to access Newgate Street from Park Street and Sparken Hill for the duration of this road closure
The road closure will be in place to allow Tilbury Douglas to connect the new Health and Wellbeing Hub to the main sewage system by excavating a four-meter deep trench.
When it is possible to do so, Park Street will reopen to traffic travelling from Sparken Hill and Park Street towards Bridge Street. All footpaths will remain open as they are now.
After these dates, the junction will revert to its current layout.
On behalf of contractors Tilbury Douglas and their road traffic management partners Doocey, we apologise for any disruption this will cause.

Improvements for Langold Country Park
We want to let you know about some improvements that are happening around the park over the next few weeks:
New Water Treatment Plant We’re installing a new water treatment plant for our toilet block and the splash park so that we can improve our environmental impact and future-proof our park and toilet facilities for years to come.
Car Park Installing a new water treatment plant means there’ll be a lot of activity and some big machinery, which means we need to close the main car park, from the Church Lane entrance, between 19th and 24th January. We’re sorry for the disruption this will cause.
Alternative Parking You can still visit the park, but please use the car park at the Doncaster Road entrance.
Toilet Block This work, in addition to the vandalism that happened before Christmas, means the toilets will continue to be closed until the end of February while we carry out some essential work.
Footpath Closures A few footpaths will be temporarily closed during this time too, so please follow any signs around the park.
