 Budget Conversation Survey 2025
There's still time to have your say on how Bassetlaw District Council’s budget is spent!
The 2025 Budget Conversation Survey invites residents, businesses, and stakeholders to help shape future services and balance the books.
The survey seeks to find out which services people use the most and capture any ideas on ways to make potential savings.

Students are getting hands on heritage construction skills whist they make repairs to Bassetlaw Museum, thanks to a joint project involving Bassetlaw District Council.
For the second year in a row, the council has teamed up with Pinnacle Conservation to deliver free foundation classes in practical skills including stone masonry, joinery and lime plastering/pointing.
Those on the course have been learning on the job carrying out repairs at Retford Road Cemetery Chapel in Worksop and have now moved onto Bassetlaw Museum in Retford.

Christmas Bin Collections 2025/2026
There will be some changes to the bin collections in Bassetlaw over the festive period, coming into effect from Thursday, 25th December 2025.
Get prepared and check changes to your bin collections on our website: www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/xmasbins.
Stickers will also continue to be placed on all bins over the coming weeks to inform residents of the changes.

Coming soon to a kerb near you!
Bassetlaw District Council will begin collecting glass from the majority of households in the district from 30th March 2026.
New black bins, which are just for recycling glass, are being distributed across Bassetlaw on a weekly basis up to February 2026.
The glass collections will be emptied every six weeks.

Bassetlaw District Council has backed plans to refresh its Council Plan and overarching Vision 2040 to make sure it continues to remain relevant and ambitious.
At a Full Council meeting on Thursday 4th December 2026, councillors agreed to the proposals to keep it in step with changing priorities while continuing to deliver great services and create better outcomes for everyone.
The update to Vision 2040 will outline how the council will deliver bold, inclusive, and sustainable improvements for everyone in Bassetlaw.

Plans to unlock £20million pounds of government funding to regenerate Worksop town centre over the next ten years have been submitted.
The Vision and Regeneration Plan, put together by the Worksop Together Board in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council, has been handed to government.
It aims to deliver improvements that matter to the community including safer streets, revitalised public spaces, a vibrant town centre, opportunities for young people, and stronger neighbourhoods.

To make a payment, call 0161 621 2990 and press:
- 1 - Council Tax
- 2 - Non-Domestic Rates
- 3 - Invoices
- 4 - Rents
- 5 - Benefits Overpayments Invoices

If you’re registered for a postal vote, new rules mean that you need to re-apply every three years. If you need to reapply you will have received a letter.
You can also re-apply re-apply online. If you re-apply online you do not need to return the application form.
If a new application is not received by 31st January 2026 the Electoral Registration Officer is required by law to cancel the postal vote, and electors will have to vote in a polling station until a new postal vote application is received or a proxy is appointed.
