New Glass Recycling bins go out to residents

Preparations for kerbside glass recycling collections in Bassetlaw are gathering pace with new bins set to be delivered to the first set of households within the next two weeks.

The new black bins, which are just for recycling glass, will be distributed across Bassetlaw on a weekly basis, with the first deliveries going out to households in the north-east of the district from Monday 17^th November.

The council is launching this year’s Budget Conversation, a survey to find out which services people use the most and capture any ideas on ways to make potential savings.

Tenant Champion awards nominations

We’re on the lookout for tenants who have made a real difference to people in their community and deserve recognition for the work they do.

Whether it’s helping out with the gardening, putting the bins out, or speaking up for others at tenant meetings, we want to make sure these thoughtful efforts don’t go unnoticed.
It’s people like this who help make our communities better, and we think they deserve a big thank you.

If there’s someone you know who has done something to help you or your community, you can nominate them for a Tenant Champion Award.

To nominate, email tenant.engagement@bassetlaw.gov.uk with your nomination and a brief summary saying why you think they should be recognised. Alternatively, send us a letter by post to:

Previous winners have been recognised for their contributions such as organising local fundraising and community events to combat social isolation, volunteering their time to support others, and helping ensure our most vulnerable residents feel included and connected.

Awards will be presented at the Tenant Conference on Monday 24th November taking place at The Crossing in Worksop. Submissions close Wednesday, 19th November 2025.

Meet the Team and Tenant Conference

Please join us for the next Meet the Team and Tenant Conference event on Monday 24^th November, 10:30 – 14:00 at The Crossing, Worksop.

The event is a fantastic opportunity for tenants to come speak directly to the staff and partners who deliver Housing services to Council Tenants. Come and ask questions, discuss issues and get involved.

The schedule for the day:

Meet the Team – 10:30 to 11:30: Speak to staff and partners who deliver Housing services for tenants.

Lunch – 11:30 to 12:30: Free buffet provided for all attendees.

Tenant Conference – 12:30 to 14:00: Get insightful updates on what is going on in Housing and ask questions. Topics will include the Tenant Awards and ‘Are you winter ready?’

Christmas competitions

As we start to approach the festive season, we'd like to invite you to take part in our Christmas competitions for tenants! 

There are three categories that you can enter:

• Best handmade Christmas decoration
• Best dressed Christmas tree
• Most festive pet 

All you need to do is submit your photo(s) to our tenant engagement team via email to tenant.engagement@bassetlaw.gov.uk before the deadline on 12th December 2025. 

After that, we will be picking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for each category and shipping out some Argos vouchers with a value of £15, £20 or £50! 

October Rent Statements

You may have noticed that you haven’t received a Rent Statement during October. We normally send these out four times a year and we are sorry that last month’s statement has been delayed while we appoint a new production and mailing partner.

We are working hard to get this in place as soon as possible and will send your rent statement out in the post as soon as possible.

If you would like to know what your rent balance is, you can view all your rent information through ‘My Account’. To access your account or to create a new account, please go to our website.

Healthy Neighbourhood Inspections

Healthy Neighbourhood Inspections help us to find things such as graffiti, overgrown gardens, and resolving issues within the community.

Each area has at least one inspection per year, and they are carried out by your Housing Officers. People from other Council departments, Councillors, Nottinghamshire Police and other agencies may also attend and help resolve issues.

We want tenants to be part of these inspections, even if it is just for your street or to raise an individual issue, after all it is your estate, and nobody knows it better than you.
