 Bassetlaw District Council is consulting residents and businesses on renewing the Public Space Protection Orders that cover Worksop and Retford Town Centres for another three years until 17 June 2028.
Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) are one of the tools that Councils can use to help tackle anti-social behaviour locally. PSPOs are aimed at ensuring public spaces can be enjoyed free from anti-social behaviour. They allow Councils to set an area where things such as drinking alcohol on the street, or causing nuisance, harassment, alarm and distress can be banned.

Bassetlaw District Council is moving quickly to introduce new powers which hope to improve our high streets and tackle the problem of long-term empty shops.
The council was confirmed as one of just four ‘Early Adopters’ of the High Street Rentals Auction Programme (HSRA) announced by the Government in December last year, which will result in landlords renting out long-term empty shops to new tenants.
The Council is currently seeking representations on the potential designation of Town Centres in Worksop, Retford and Harworth & Bircotes as areas where a High Street Rental Auction can be used.
