Multi million-pound investment in Council tenants' homes
More than £103 million is being invested in Bassetlaw District Council tenants’ homes over the next five years to make sure they are well maintained, safe and energy efficient.
It is part of a five-year plan for the Housing Capital Programme for 2025/26 to 2029/30 and was approved by councillors at a Cabinet Meeting on Thursday 6th February. The report will now be sent to full council on 27th February.

Bassetlaw District Council has been setting out how it plans to support those most in need when it comes to paying their council tax.
Cabinet members met on 6th February to discuss changes to the Council Tax Reduction (CTR) scheme for 2025/26, which will be in place from 1st April 2025, to make sure working age people don’t miss out through an increase in their benefits.
The Council can provide an 88% reduction in Council tax, with individuals and families, who are on benefits or incomes less than £99.99 per week providing the additional 12 percent.

There are lots of opportunities for Tenants to come along to our groups over the next month. Whether you want to speak to someone from Housing to raise an issue or if you just want to come for a coffee, biscuit and a chat, there is a group for you.
Last month we supported tenants with issues such as requesting an adaptation, getting a new Tunstall pendant and much more. So, if you’re not sure where to go with an issue, please come to one of our meetings and we will be on hand to support you.

On 24th January Bassetlaw District Council tenants and staff worked together to review how we reward tenants who are involved and give up their spare time to volunteer for our groups, roles and surveys.
The review was a great success and we are now looking to develop a new way to recognise our involved tenants. Keep an eye out for updates on how you can get rewarded whilst also making a big difference to tenants.
To be considered for a future review, please email tenant.engagement@bassetlaw.gov.uk

Healthy Neighbourhood Inspections help us to look for things that will improve your communities, such as removing graffiti, tackling overgrown gardens, and resolving parking issues.
Each area has at least one inspection per year, and they are carried out by your Housing Officer. People from other council departments, Nottinghamshire Police and other agencies may also attend, so that specific problems can be addressed.
We want tenants to be part of these inspections, even if it is just for your street or to raise an individual issue, after all it is your estate, and nobody knows it better than you.
Please join us at one of the inspections that take place over the next month:
