At this month’s forum you’ll hear from our Head of Housing, Alison Craig, as well as updates from the Tenant Engagement Team and other guest speakers.
Places are limited at the Forum, so please confirm your attendance in advance as well as advising us of any dietary requirements as food and refreshments are provided. Level parking is available and must be booked in advance. Travel expenses and parking can be reimbursed.

Could you be the next voice of your community?
We’re on the look-out for people who have a passion for their community and would like to work with us as a Tenant Voice.
All you need is a little free time and a willingness to give something to your local community. This could include setting up a coffee morning, a knit ’n’ natter group, or other events that could help to reduce loneliness and isolation in your neighbourhood.
As a Tenant Voice, you can also help us to reach parts of your community and provide us with vital feedback and information. If you’d like to talk to us, we can support you in taking the next steps, and give you the tools and resources you need to make a difference for local people.
To help you understand more about the role of a Tenant Voice, here’s Veronica Shaw, who is the Tenant Voice for Hallcroft in Retford, and the organiser of a Coffee and Chat group.
“While on my regular leaflet drop, which sends out information to Hallcroft residents who don't have the internet, I got chatting to people and noticed that they were showing signs of wanting to talk to people and share personal experiences.
“Sometimes there can be lots going on under our noses, and sometimes it can be difficult to find the confidence to go to organised groups. That first cuppa and a raffle ticket is all it takes though. A few biscuits and a smile and eventually there was no stopping the first seven people who came to our group.
“I soon had people offering to help me spread the news about our free coffee, raffle and cake meetings as they could see I was struggling to walk. How wonderful, it was music to my ears and before long we had an army of Hallcroft residents on their scooters, all going out on mass and spreading the word.
“If you are thinking about doing something similar, my advice is that it's easier if the venue is local and there are people there who you know or have similar needs.
“We don’t have a set agenda for the sessions and initially we had a lot of things to report on that people needed help with. However, one thing we could get some tips on is how to get the leaflets through letter boxes without trapping our fingers!’
If you’d like to know more about how to become a Tenant Voice, please contact our Tenant Engagement Team:

Groundworks to start work on Snipe Park and Woods
With help from local charity Groundwork Five Counties, a number of issues including flooded paths and overgrown areas are being tackled around Snipe Park in Harworth and Bircotes.
The organisation has teamed up with Bassetlaw District Council to improve the area and every Thursday in June, the charity’s environmental team will be tidying up the overgrown woodlands, which have become an eyesore. This will include removing rubbish and cutting down dense trees and shrubs, allowing the area to be more open and accessible, with people finally able to use the footpaths again.
Birds are currently nesting in the ditches around Snipe Park, meaning that by law no work can be done on the drainage system until bird nesting season is officially over. As an environmental organisation, Groundwork’s habitat management experts ensure the protection of local wildlife comes first.
Once bird nesting ends in September, the team will be clearing out the overgrown vegetation blockages in the ditches, which is causing rainwater to spill over the grasslands and onto the footpaths.
Dense trees and shrubs will be reduced, and these cuttings will used to create new habitats for the wildlife that can be found in the woods, creating a safe space for them to nest.
Once this work is completed, the charity will be delivering a series of play sessions for pre-school children and their grown-ups, to kickstart a new era for Snipe Park where recreation and enjoyment of nature take centre stage.
Alongside these activities, Groundwork Five Counties are holding a consultation for residents to share their feelings about Snipe Park and how the area can be improved.

We want to make sure that all our tenants can have their say on Council Housing services but appreciate that not everyone would like to attend a meeting or join a group.
That’s why we have a regular Be Heard from Home survey that is sent out to tenants four times a year and allows you to have your say without making any long-term commitments.
The surveys normally take no more than 10 minutes to complete and to say thank you, we’ll enter you into a £50 Love2Shop Voucher prize draw. We’ll also provide you with a report on any changes we make thanks to the feedback we get from tenants who complete the Be Heard for Home Survey.
To find out more and sign up, please visit the Be Heard From Home section of our website.
