 Worksop Market Consultation
Bassetlaw District Council is putting forward a proposal to create a new dedicated indoor market area at the Priory Centre as part of a £20 million town centre investment.
Just some of the facilities already confirmed for the Priory Centre include a new food court, a bowling alley, climbing wall and indoor adventure play area, as well as new toilet facilities and a Changing Places toilet.
The Council is now asking the public, traders, businesses and local stakeholders for their views on a proposal to create a dedicated, multi-functional, indoor market area that would reposition the markets from their current location of Bridge Street, into the Priory Centre.

Get into the festive spirit with a vintage feel. Members of the National Vintage Engine and Tractor Society, Nottinghamshire, will be trimming to the front of the museum with a few vintage tractors! Inside the museum, stock up on some last minute presents, including those made by local craftspeople. There will also be a free children’s activity. Don’t forget to have a cuppa and a go on the tombola!
The Museum will be closed from Saturday 23rd December to Friday 5th January inclusive.
Christmas Parking
Visitors to Worksop and Retford will be able to take advantage of free afternoon parking again this year in all Bassetlaw District Council Car Parks (including the Priory Centre in Worksop) in the run up to Christmas and New Year.
Parking will be free after 2pm each day from Friday 1st December 2023 to Monday 1st January 2024 as the Council looks to encourage more people to shop local and support our town centre businesses.
Parking will also be free in the Council’s Worksop Car Parks (including the Priory Centre) on Saturday 25th November for the Christmas Lights Switch On. There are no parking charges in Council Car Parks on Sundays so the Retford Christmas Market and Lights Switch-On taking place on Sunday 26th November will also have free parking.

Bassetlaw District Council is encouraging its male members of staff to make the White Ribbon Promise – a promise to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women.
Each year, White Ribbon Day takes place on 25th November ahead of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. The Campaign encourages people, especially men and boys, to take action to end violence against women and girls.
As part of the annual White Ribbon campaign, many members of Council staff have made the promise and are wearing White Ribbons in support of the campaign’s objectives.
