Business Support offers through UK Shared Prosperity Funding
We will soon be launching our business support programmes available to businesses in the Bassetlaw area. These are as follows:
High Street Support Programme
Giving high street businesses across the district the opportunity to receive a maximum of six hours 1:1 business adviser time and access to workshops from topics such as:
- An Introduction to E-Commerce
- How to use Social Media as Your Online Shop Front
- Improve Your Customer Journey with Social Content
- Sales & Marketing
Start-up workshops
Workshops will be available on the following areas:
- Business Planning
- Social Media
- Marketing
These will be hosted across Worksop and Retford, and will start from the beginning of October. These will be as follows:
- Business Planning – 3rd October – Worksop
- Marketing Essentials – 10th October - Retford
- Social Media – 17th October – Worksop
- Business Planning – 16th November – Worksop
- Social Media – 21st November – Retford
Business Advisers support
Our business advisers are here to offer advice and support within your business. Free surgeries will be taking place across rural, industrial and business park locations across the district and businesses can book a time to discuss their requirements.
Growth Accelerator
Offering high-intensity growth implementation support to businesses to create new jobs or exploit technology to improve performance.

The West Burton site is the home of The STEP prototype fusion energy plant and STEP’s next community event, where you can find out more about the project, is happening soon!
The event will showcase the first draft of the site Masterplan that the public can give their thoughts and feedback on.
The site team will also be available to talk through the characterisation work, which has been going on at the site in recent months, as well as colleagues from EDF Energy who will be available to talk about the decommissioning and demolition works at West Burton.
The event will be held on Tuesday 12 September, 4pm until 7pm at Retford Town Hall.

Do you need to know more about accessibility in Bassetlaw? The AccessAble guide is all about taking the chance out of going out.
It's for anyone who needs to know more about accessibility.
It includes hotels, restaurants, shops and theatres in Bassetlaw. You can check out everything from parking to hearing loops, walking distances and accessible toilets.
It's totally free and available at AccessAble and on the AccessAble App (Available on Apple Store and Google Play).

The East Midlands Chamber (EMC) economic survey for Q3 is now live. If we could ask that you lend your support by completing it online.

The results form part of the largest survey of its kind in the UK, are recognised as a key economic indicator by the Government, the Bank of England, independent economists, and supports how we represent our business community regionally, nationally and internationally.
Included in this survey are additional questions, which help to understand the current policy issues that business want us to focus on in the EMCs engagement with politicians as they update our 2022

‘A Centre of Trading Excellence: a Business Manifesto for Growth in the East Midlands and beyond’, which was based directly on feedback received via this survey.
The survey should take circa five minutes to complete and is open to all businesses - all respondents will be able to compare their individual responses in an interactive and user friendly format, you can also download your own graphs and charts - the Q2 2023 report can be viewed here for reference.

Decarbonisation Grant
Microbusinesses in Bassetlaw with less than 10 employees are now eligible to apply for grants of up to £3,000 to spend on decarbonisation initiatives that would make their company greener and improve the natural environment, whilst growing the local economy.
The grant is divided into two phases. Phase 1 will include a grant of up to £1,000 which will contribute to the costs of a building energy audit*. The findings of the audit will recommend what decarbonisation measures could take place as part of Phase 2.
Phase 2 offers a grant of up to £2,000 that will contribute to the installation of energy efficiency measures, recommended as part of the building energy audit, and support the reduction of the business’s carbon footprint.
In order to be eligible for either grant, businesses must be located and operate within the district of Bassetlaw, have fewer than 10 employees, pay business rates to Bassetlaw District Council and have no debt to the council. Licences and planning applications must be granted before the Phase 2 grant is awarded.
