Following the news that Wilko has gone into Administration, Bassetlaw Citizens Advice has launched an online portal for workers affected by the situation.
Wilko Administration Advice
Cllr James Naish, Leader of Bassetlaw District Council said:
“My thoughts are with everyone impacted by the devastating news about Wilko, especially the thousands of employees who have faithfully continued to serve the public in recent weeks in very difficult circumstances.
“I have been in contact with the Administrators given the Head Office and Distribution Centre are located in Bassetlaw. I appreciate that finding a buyer for the business, or part of the business, is their main priority but we need to actively plan for what happens if this can’t be achieved.
“I welcome their offer of a meeting and trust that this will be a top priority. This is essential so that the Council can work with its partners and impacted trade unions to help as many affected employees as possible.”

Bassetlaw District Council has allocated £160,000 to projects to provide additional support to our communities through the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, as part of its early preparations for a potentially difficult winter.
The funding comes after the Council hosted a meeting with 20 partner organisations across Bassetlaw to prepare for the impacts of the rising cost of living on residents over the coming autumn and winter months.
The information provided by a range of agencies painted a stark picture of the issues that some residents are likely to face in the coming months. An example of this is the unprecedented demand for the services of Citizens Advice Bassetlaw which has seen its workload increase from being ‘average’ across the Citizens Advice network to now being in the top five nationally.
