In September 2022, the Government launched the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) prospectus as an addition to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). In November 2022, the District Council submitted an addendum to our UKSPF Investment Plan to secure an additional £714,251 of capital funding. We have since received confirmation of this funding which will be allocated over the next two financial years, 2023/24 (25%) and 2024/25 (75%) to capital interventions to support our rural communities and business enterprises as part of the REPF.
Bassetlaw District Council is now accepting expressions of interest from community groups and businesses in Bassetlaw’s rural areas who have the opportunity to bid for a share of this Government funding.
The fund will support initiatives such as the improvement of community facilities and green spaces, as well as projects to boost rural tourism and community infrastructure. It will also support local enterprises such as agricultural businesses looking to diversify or expand their commerce, and rural businesses looking to launch or grow their products and services.
Further details of the funding and how to apply can be found on the REPF page of the Bassetlaw District Council website.
The key dates are as follows:
- 1st Expression of Interest application window opened – Wednesday 28 June 2023 at 12noon
- 1st Expression of Interest application window closes – Tuesday 18 July 2023 at 17:00
- For those applicants that are invited to submit a full application, the application window will open at 12noon on Monday 7 August 2023 and close at 12noon on Tuesday 15 September 2023.

Updated code of practice for food inspections
The Food Standards Agency has published a revised Food Law Code of Practice for England and Northern Ireland. What are T-Levels?
T-Levels are an alternative to A levels and apprenticeships and give young people the technical and practical skills needed to get them work-ready. They are equivalent to three A levels and students will complete an industry placement which will help them develop the knowledge, attitude and practical skills to thrive in the workplace.
T-Level students spend 80% of the course in the classroom, learning the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where they put these skills into action.
Industry placements must take place in a work environment, so it's a good idea to offer placements via a T-Level school or college that's close to your business premises.
If you are interested in offering an industry placement, your first step is to get in touch with T-Level schools and colleges near you.
You can find out more about T-Level industry placements by visiting GOV.UK: What are T-Levels?
