Bassetlaw District Council has awarded £65,000 in grants to local organisations to support their work in helping residents deal with the rising cost of living. The grants focus on addressing the key cost of living issues facing people in the District, which have been identified by the Bassetlaw Financial Inclusion Forum – a group of district-wide community partners, of which the Council is a member.

Street wardens to tackle anti-social behaviour
Four wardens are being recruited to tackle anti-social behaviour following a funding boost to make Worksop’s streets safer. They will focus on dealing with street drinking, substance misuse and aggressive begging during regular high-visibility patrols on days, evenings and weekends in the town centre and near the Canch public park.
The Environment Agency, in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council and Bassetlaw District Council, are hosting a community engagement event on flood risk in Retford. Come along to find out about flood risk and how to help protect your home and family. Learn what we are doing to help manage and reduce the impacts of flooding in Retford and how we can help you.

- Circus and bubbles workshops
- Sublime Science (as seen on Dragon's Den)

- Craft workshop

Until the 27th of October, Bassetlaw Museum are hosting a range of different Halloween activities every week day including:
- Shrunken Apple Heads
- Pom Pom Spiders and Pumpkins
- Spooky Clay Creations
All activities are free and run from 10.00am to 12.00pm and 1.00pm to 3.00pm each day.

Mercians to march through Worksop
On Wednesday 26th October 2022 approximately 90 soldiers from The Mercian Regiment (formally known as the Worcester & Sherwood Foresters Regiment, The Cheshire Regiment and The Staffordshire Regiment) will be Exercising the Right to the Freedom of Worksop and Retford.
