Worksop had almost TWICE the average monthly rain fall in just three hours on Tuesday, causing massive surface water flooding across the town.
The clean-up is well under way and skips are being provided for residents needing to dispose of flood damaged items. Requests can be made via Customer Services on 01909 533 533. Residents are advised to check with their insurance companies before disposing of any items.
Our Housing Team were down at Sandy Lane and Godfreys Court yesterday, carrying out door to door checks, inspecting properties and assisting residents. Our electricians have attended 34 properties to make safe electrics and our bricklayers have attended 28 roof leaks. A further 17 roof leaks are being dealt with by external contractors.
Our Road and Street Sweepers have been out and we have swept a number of areas at the request of VIA East Midlands, prior to gulley and drain clearance. Please note, the sweepers role is to remove debris and detritus, some staining will remain, but this will weather off over time.
We are currently working in the following areas:
Sandy Lane – 2 skips have been filled and collected and will have been swept Friday.
Godfreys Court – A skip will remain on site until Friday and the area will also be swept to remove debris.
Larwood Health Centre – 3 tonnes of detritus and debris has been removed from the car park.
Valley Road / Royal Crescent – Swept Thursday 18th
Blyth Road / Prospect - Swept Thursday 18th
Fulmer Way / Lady Walk – Swept Thursday 18th
Rydal Drive – Officers visited the area on Friday morning.
Skips will be deployed to areas as and when they become available.
Please bear with us as we collect and dispose of flood damaged items. If your street is not on the list, please email Customer Services.
