Community Renewal Fund.
New application window for the UK Community Renewal Fund in North Nottinghamshire
Businesses in Bassetlaw are being urged to apply for their share of UK Community Renewal Fund grants and growth vouchers.
A new application window has been made possible by the recent extension of the East Midlands Accelerator project. All funds must be committed by 30 June, and fully claimed by mid September.
Businesses are being invited to apply for the following:
- Grant funding of up to £8,000 (covering 80% of costs) to support their plans for growth. Help can include, but is not limited to:
- adopting digital solutions;
- introducing carbon reduction solutions; and
- providing a wage subsidy to support Kickstart or Graduate job retention.
- Growth vouchers of up to £2,000 (covering 100% of costs) for consultancy advice or specialist training.
As part of its application, a business must:
- either safeguard or create a job; and
- commit to creating or updating a sustainability plan for their business.

Harworth and Bircotes Hub
The HUB, delivered by Bassetlaw District Council and DWP in collaboration with stakeholder partners .The aim of the Youth Hub is to support those aged 16-24 years to become work ready, access careers guidance, develop life skills, engage in sector specific training and secure sustainable employment in their local area.
As a key employer in the area we want to ask if you are happy to support the young people that attend the Youth Hub by:
- Attend the Hub to talk about your organisation, the types of job opportunities you have and the skills and experience you look for.
- Support CV and mock interview activities to enable youth people to experience first-hand what you look for in a CV and as part of the interview process.
- Support young people to gain valuable work experience and volunteering opportunities.
- Use the Hub to promote live and planned vacancies – traineeships, apprenticeships, direct employment.
- If you employ an apprentice them attending the Hub to talk about the ‘day in the life of an apprentice’
The Youth Hub will help you to fill current and future skills gaps and help shape your future workforce based on business needs.
Our launch event is taking place on Tuesday 14 June, at Harworth and Bircotes Town Hall, from 1.30pm until 4.00pm and will continue every Tuesday afternoon.

As part of our ‘What Next’ series of careers events across the district during the 21/22 academic year Bassetlaw District Council are pleased to announce the first Higher Skills and Education event.
As a district we want to ensure all our young people and mature learners have robust information about the rapidly changing world of work and the skills, attributes, qualities and flexibilities needed in the changing economy. Higher skills and qualifications will play an increasing important role in a new mechanised world with emerging and disruptive technologies.
The Bridge Skills Hub forms part of our response to provide local, employer lead higher skills. Our event (in collaboration with The Bridge) hopes to provide learners, parents, teachers and stakeholders with the information and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about HE progression, HE pathways, HE processes – providing an annual stage for the district to engage with HE providers.
We would love to hear from any employers that have live or planned higher apprenticeship vacancies, who would like to take the opportunity to have a free stand at the event and help fill their employment opportunities.
