Celebrating the Jubilee in Bassetlaw
To help mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee next week, the Council is flying commemorative flags in the Civic Square in Worksop. The square will also host a number of special events in the town centre, in addition to those taking place across the district to celebrate the Queen’s historic milestone.
There is plenty happening at Bassetlaw Museum, who get us started with the first of three days of Jolly Japes from Monday 30th May to Wednesday 1st June. The celebrations include performances from Platinum Poems and Jubilee Jo Jingles, as well as an opportunity to meet Sir James Dangerous. Check it out for yourself at Amcott House, Grove Street, Retford.
Later in the week there are Celebrations, Live Music and entertainment in Worksop and Retford, with parties and events taking place across Bassetlaw.

Update from Cllr Simon Greaves, Council Leader
Levelling Up has the potential to be a game changer for Worksop, which is why we are seeking your support as we prepare our final submission for Government Funding. Working with partners and with the support of our MP in Parliament, we have a real opportunity to deliver on residents’ and business’ priorities.
In Carlton and Lindrick we are consulting on exciting new plans to transform the Wimpey Estate. I'd urge all residents to have their say on these proposals.
We are also working with the local NHS on bring forward a vacant site to deliver a new Health and Wellbeing Hub, which you can read more about in the news story below.
Finally, I hope that everyone enjoys the extended bank holiday Jubilee Weekend. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has dedicated her life to the service of this country and its people. From Beacon lightings in Torworth to the Party in the Park in Mattersey, there are events taking place across the District. I am grateful to the Worksop and Retford Business Forums for organising town centre events and look forward to joining in the celebrations.
