£150 Council Tax Rebate - Update
Residents in Bassetlaw have started to receive the £150 Council Tax Rebate as part of the Government’s measures to ease the rising costs of energy bills. The Council Tax Rebate is a £150 payment to households in England in Council Tax bands A to D, which accounts for approximately 90% of households within the Bassetlaw District Council area.
Payments will initially be made to people who already pay by Direct Debit, which is approximately 70% of Bassetlaw households. Batches of payments will be processed throughout May and residents are asked to check their statements for a reference of BDC ENERGY REBATE. Please do not contact us if you do not receive your payment immediately.
If you do not pay by Direct Debit, you will receive a letter that provides instructions on how you can claim the rebate, in addition to a unique verification code for security purposes. You will then be asked to visit the Council’s website to provide your details and your unique verification code, in addition to confirming other security questions. If you do not have access to the internet, you will be able to contact our Council Tax Team over the phone to provide your details. Please wait until you have received your letter and unique verification code before contacting us. You can find more information on our website about the Council Tax Rebate.

Big Plastic Count
We’re all doing our bit to recycle, but plastic waste is still everywhere. Something doesn’t add up… and we need your help to prove it.
Join The Big Plastic Count!
Across the country, households of all shapes and sizes, schools, community groups and businesses, will gather new evidence. How much plastic are we really having to throw away, and what happens to it?
Over the course of a week thousands of people across the UK will tally all the plastic packaging they throw away for one before submitting the results on the Big Plastic Count website.
Participants will receive a personal plastic footprint and find out what really happens to plastic when it leaves your home. The results will be used to generate a national picture, and provide evidence to present to government.

Foster Care Fortnight
|
Nottinghamshire County Council needs more people throughout the county to provide safe and loving homes for children and young people. The council would love to talk to anyone in Nottinghamshire who could welcome a child into their home.
Foster care fortnight (9-22 May) focuses on fostering communities and aims to highlight the many ways people in the fostering community support each other.
Our foster carers benefit from support hubs - regular meet ups with other foster carers to talk about different issues and offer each other advice and help. There are also events for foster carers and their families to celebrate the whole fostering community. Fostering for Nottinghamshire County Council means you are helping children in your local area.
By becoming a foster carer and offering a welcoming, loving and caring home environment, you can make a real difference to a child’s life – and your own!
Our friendly fostering team holds regular information events where you can ask any questions you have about what it’s like to foster or the process involved.
