Government-funded courses in Adult Care available in Worksop
North Notts College is pleased to offer a range of higher-level courses and apprenticeships from the newly developed Bridge Skills Hub in Worksop from April 2022.
The state-of-the-art facility will be host to North Notts College’s degree apprenticeships and higher-level skills training to local employers looking to develop their business and staff.
Apprenticeships being offered from The Bridge Skills Hub in April are:
- Level 4 Lead Practitioner in Adult Care
- Level 5 Leader in Adult Care
Employers in the care industry can now upskill their staff with Care Quality Commission (CQC) approved courses. Apprentices will:
- Develop top-tier skills in health and wellbeing
- Advance their skills in management, safeguarding, communication, leadership and professional development
- Achieve a Level 4 Diploma as a ‘Lead Practitioner in Adult Care’ or a Level 5 Diploma as a ‘Leader in Adult Care’

These higher-level apprenticeships are tailored to fit the demands of local businesses and are 95% government-funded (costing only £350).
More courses and apprenticeships will be offered from September 2022.

Targeted East Midlands Accelerator support for Bassetlaw businesses
Bassetlaw has been chosen by Government as one of only 100 areas across the country to benefit from the UK Community Renewal Fund. All support must be committed by 30 June 2022.
Together with our region’s universities and business support agencies, East Midlands Chamber is leading a collaborative partnership to deliver support, helping businesses in a number of areas, including: investing in net zero business practices; digital and e-commerce solutions; wage subsidies; and helping start-ups launch a new business or product. Grants of up to £8,000 and £2,000 growth vouchers are also on offer to support job creation and job safeguarding respectively.
How to get involved
Businesses can participate in a number of ways:
- Take advantage of the range of one-to-one advice, mentoring and business diagnostics on offer.
- Participate in one-to-many training and workshops.
- Attend conferences and events.
- Apply for grants of up to £8,000 (80% intervention) to help businesses adopt digital solutions, introduce carbon reduction solutions or provide a wage subsidy to support Kickstart or Graduate job retention.
Apply for a growth voucher of up to £2,000 (100%) for consultancy advice to support business growth or to undertake specialist training.

Launch of the North Nottinghamshire Manufacturing Network
Tuesday, 12 April 2022
The role of the new East Midlands Manufacturing Network is to secure the future success of manufacturing in our region by bringing together key knowledge and skills to form a dedicated, supportive peer network.
Manufacturers are being encouraged to join, in order to: share best practices and experience in a trusted peer environment; focus on issues and challenges that are a priority for them and other manufacturing businesses; better understand the financial support on offer for their manufacturing business; and identify collaboration opportunities.
The inaugural meeting of the North Nottinghamshire Manufacturing Network is taking place on Tuesday, 12 April at NTU University Centre, Vision West Nottinghamshire College. Register your interest at the Chamber’s East Midlands Manufacturing Network page.

Food and Drink Forum SALSA Peer to Peer programme
Starting 4 May 2022
Food manufacturers employing up to 250 people can benefit from Food and Drink Forum support in areas such as: sustainable products and packaging; improving production efficiencies through more efficient equipment and production lines, reduced waste and energy use; as well as innovative approaches to production.
For any small food or drink manufacturer, the SALSA accreditation is often seen as the standard to achieve to increase sales of their product beyond the local area.
A total of 12 producers are being invited to join the SALSA Peer to Peer programme taking place virtually as four sessions, beginning on Wednesday, 4 May.

Help to Grow management training at NTU
Starting Friday, 22 April 2022
The 12-week Help to Grow programme is ideal for businesses employing between five and 249 people and that are seeking to benefit from leadership or management training.
The project is part-funded by the UK Government, with the remaining 10% paid by participating businesses as a one-off upfront fee of £750. In order to help businesses most affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the Chamber is subsidising the £750 training fee, on a first-come, first-served basis, for 100 eligible businesses located in UK Community Renewal Fund areas.
One of the training courses on offer is a Nottingham Business School (Nottingham Trent University) blended course (online and face to face in Nottingham city centre), beginning on Friday, 22 April 2022.

B-Global – Peer networking programme for Black, Asian and minority ethnic SME leaders
B-Global and Enterprise Thinkshops have developed a peer networking programme for
Black, Asian and minority ethnic SME leaders based in Nottinghamshire. The programme begins on Saturday, 23 April, and will be delivered as six bite-sized weekend sessions, delivered online and in person.

Free expert advice on compliance and legislation is available from Nottinghamshire Trading Standards to help businesses ensure their products and services are correctly described and marketed from the start. This offers them reassurance that their claims are accurate so they avoid any potentially costly corrective action that might be needed as a result of non-compliance with legislation.
