Working with partners including Brendan Clarke-Smith MP, we will be submitting a Levelling Up bid to Government this spring. To have the best possible chance of success, one of the things we will need to show is that the bid is supported by our local community. Although the Government guidance hasn’t been published yet, we expect it will be fairly similar to the first funding round. With that in mind, we have identified three different areas within the town centre that could be the focus of the bid. These areas build on themes from the Worksop Town Masterplan as well as addressing issues such as flooding, traffic problems and empty shops and units.

To help shape the bid and provide more information, the Council is holding a series of events throughout February and March, including a drop in business breakfast at Cafe Neo in Worksop.

The three possible bid areas identified are: 1) The Priory Centre and surrounding area 2) Bridge Street and surrounding area 3) Upper Town around the Savoy Cinema As part of the Levelling Up Bid, Bassetlaw District Council is working with planning and development consultant Timothy Crawshaw, current President of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
