With Christmas on the horizon, we wants to do all we can to support the fabulous independent businesses we have on and around our high streets and in our towns.

We will be linking into the national ‘Small Business Saturday’ campaign by promoting shop local and supplying any independent business with a marketing pack of ideas and posters, along with social media support to promote any offers or discounts you may wish to run on Saturday 4th December as part of #SmallBizSatUK.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a retailer, in hospitality, a small manufacturer or a one person outfit, we just want to help you get your message promoted.

We will be utilising our own hashtag by placing the name of the district town in front, for example #WorksopSmallBizSatUK, so that we are able to share and engage with every post that uses this hashtag.

Promotional materials will be available from 15th November so please let us know if you would like a pack and what offers we can help you promote leading up to 4th December. To register your interest please email the Economic Development Team.

So come on, let’s really shout about how good our local independent businesses are and get people shopping local this Christmas and beyond!

The COP 26 Regional Roadshow East Midlands 11 November 2021

The COP 26 Regional Roadshow East Midlands , will take place on 11 November 2021. This is an all day event, but you can drop into the online sessions and there will be great networking opportunities throughout the day!

The conference will be hosted by Nottinghamshire’s 5G Partnership from the new Digital Innovation Centre in the Worksop Turbine building; powered by energy generated by the wind turbine at the centre. The event is online and using Collab you are invite to participate and network with other conference delegates.

In November, the UK hosts COP26 in Glasgow, bringing world leaders together to tackle climate change. To build momentum for this pivotal event, we’re asking you to help us find #OneStepGreener Climate Leaders – the community groups, individuals, businesses and others who’ve found meaningful ways to take positive environmental action.

The conference will showcase the partnerships, achievements, opportunities and potential across the East Midlands in driving forward UK net zero and climate ambitions at scale. Beginning with a high quality and internationally relevant achievements in Digital Innovation and Green Development, the event will include keynote speakers and panel discussion from high profile partners across the region, addressing key themes, challenges and successes for the climate agenda.

The full day’s programme will provide opportunities for a wide range of businesses, community organisations and UK public sector to connect and collaborate. The day will explore a wide range of important climate topics for the East Midlands including:

Help to Grow Programmes

Help to Grow is a £520 million scheme to help owners of small and medium-sized business take their business to the next level. There are two Government backed programmes designed to help business leaders:

Help to Grow: Management offers senior business leaders management and leadership training, delivered by Business Schools across the UK.

Help to Grow: Digital offers businesses free, impartial advice on how technology can boost business, delivered through a new online platform

Christmas Parking Concession

The annual Christmas Parking concession will run again this year.

There will be Free parking in all Bassetlaw District Council car parks from 2pm from Wednesday 1st December 2021 to Sunday 2nd January 2022.

Town Centre retailers are encouraged to promote this concession to shoppers and visitors. 

If you would like posters or fliers to help promote this, please contact the Council Print Unit who will mail them out. Digital versions are also available.
