Basildon Street Marshals
Shop Local Shop Safe

Thanks to Towngate Theatre staff for being our street marshals in Basildon Town Centre from yesterday as non-essential shops reopen.

Before the shops opened, they were joined by officers from the Basildon Town Centre Policing Team and our Town Centre warden who all welcomed shoppers back on a busy day in the town centre.

We also have marshals in Billericay and Wickford High Streets. Our marshals are on hand to offer a welcome and info about changes in place which include arrows on pavements to assist pedestrian flow and signage to help keep people safe and socially distance.

Take a stand against scams

scams

It's Scams Awareness Fortnight which aims to create a network of confident, alert consumers who know what to do when they spot a scam.

This year, protecting people against scams is more important than ever. The coronavirus crisis means more people are facing issues - from employment and debt, to housing and health - resulting in more people being in vulnerable situations. Added to this, the overall heightened uncertainty and anxiety caused by the pandemic is making everyone more vulnerable and more likely to fall victim to a scam. Empowering the public against scams is crucial during these uncertain times.

Help us spread the message that scams are crimes that can happen to anyone and that we can all take a stand to help stop them. There are actions we can all take to report them, share stories and raise awareness of scams to safeguard ourselves and others.

There is lots of helpful advice on how to protect yourself and your family on the Friends Against Scams website www.friendsagainstscams.org.uk/
