The Barnsley 10k returns on Sunday 28 June 2026, bringing one of our town’s most popular and best‑loved sporting events back to the streets.
Whether it’s your first 10k or you’re a regular on the start line, running for fun, fitness or fundraising, this is your chance to get involved and be part of something special in Barnsley.
Entries open on Sunday 1 February at 5pm, with 2,200 places available. Entry fees are £27.50 for England Athletics‑affiliated runners and £29.50 for unaffiliated runners.
If you or someone you know is involved with a local charity, they can apply for 25 discounted places (50% off) with a £100 fundraising commitment per runner - a great way to raise money as a team.
The Mayor of Barnsley began a new chapter for Cudworth Library when he officially opened the new-look facilities this week.
We've created a larger children’s library area with a welcoming nature theme and vibrant décor. Extra shelving has been installed for more books, and there are new flexible spaces, with new meeting tables, soft seating and an acoustic office booth.
Cudworth Library's transformation is part of our Libraries Refurbishment Programme and was supported by a £130,000 grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund via the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

Being a foster carer for a teenager means being there for all kinds of moments, from everyday routines to big milestones. The support you give during their teenage years could become memories they carry with them for life.
Teenagers in care in Barnsley need the same support as other young people. They need help to build confidence, learn important life skills, become independent, and move smoothly into adult life.
Just knowing someone is there for them can make a big difference and help them to believe in themselves. Could you foster teenagers? Get in touch with the team on 01226 775876.

The spirit of Love Where You Live was alive and well in Penistone as residents came together for a welcoming Winter Wellbeing event at St John’s Community Centre. From the moment people arrived, there was a real sense of warmth, not just from the hot drinks, but also from the supporting neighbours.
Alongside friendly conversations and practical winter advice, residents received free slippers to prevent slips, trips and falls. Local services were on hand to offer housing support, health checks for over 50s, and guidance on staying safe during the colder months. The Community Shop on the Go also visited, providing essential food items.
The event showcased what Love Where You Live is all about, community, kindness and connection.
