Following its exciting refurbishment Goldthorpe Library has now re-opened its doors.
Over the last few months, the library has been transformed into a modern and flexible space, and we can't wait to welcome you back. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the library is the ninth branch in the borough to benefit from our refurbishment programme, which aims to make our library offer across the borough even better.
We're excited to introduce our new Warden Team, who'll be enhancing safety and support at The Glass Works and in the surrounding town centre. They'll work alongside our current wardens, providing a visible and professional presence to reassure shoppers, businesses, and families while deterring anti-social behaviour.
As part of our ‘Joining Forces’ Safer Neighbourhood Service, they will work closely with South Yorkshire Police, our partners, and the existing Warden service to tackle issues and maintain a thriving town centre.
Last week, we welcomed representatives from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to Barnsley to learn more about our award-winning How's Thi Ticker initiative.
Organised by our Public Health team, their visit focused on the innovative ways we're bringing vital health checks and support to our communities.
Our guests got to peek behind the scenes of how we developed How's Thi Ticker, helping more people get their blood pressure checked for the first time.
Replace your RTS electricity meter before the switch off this June

If you have a Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) meter, you should contact your electricity supplier as soon as possible before the switch off on Monday 30 June.
The RTS uses radio signals to tell some electricity meters to switch between peak and off-peak rates.
The technology that supports this will stop working at the end of June, meaning the heating and hot water in some homes that use RTS could be affected without an upgrade.
