The Mental Health Innovation Fund is a grant scheme aimed at developing mental health and wellbeing projects and supporting individuals at risk of suicide and self-harm.
Mental health is a concern for all. By advocating for good mental health practices and taking early action, we can help prevent the onset of mental illness and alleviate its impact when it occurs, thereby enhancing and potentially saving lives in our community.
The funding has been made available through Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and is being operated by Barnsley CVS.
Charities and voluntary organisations can apply for between £2,000-5,000 to support the objectives outlined in the T&C’s.
Applications are now open and close on the 10 January 2025 at 4pm. If your organisation is successful, all funds must be spent by the 30 September 2025.
Cheryl is the newest member of the Dearne Area Team and will be working alongside Nigel on all things environmental.
Cheryl said "I love being outdoors, I enjoy gardening, DIY and walking. I am proud of my community and happy to be working alongside a great team, to continue to make the Dearne a better place for us all"
Join us in welcoming Cheryl to Barnsley Council and wishing her all the best in her new role.
Goldthorpe will be made more vibrant and colourful by four new art projects now underway.
Mural artist Jayde Marie Bell has been awarded two new commissions following her exceptional work on painting shop shutters in Goldthorpe.
Firstly, she will be painting six new murals on the shutters of businesses on Goldthorpe’s high street, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The second project is a mural for the underpass connecting Goldthorpe to Thurnscoe’s Phoenix Park, which is being designed with involvement from young people from the Dearne.
This project is supported by funding from the Goldthorpe Town Deal, a £23.1 million investment from the UK Government’s Towns Fund, which is regenerating and reinvigorating Goldthorpe and the Dearne.
Both projects align with our ambition that everyone in Barnsley is able to grow and develop their skills and has the opportunity to enjoy memorable cultural experiences.
Meanwhile, we've also launched commissions for two more art projects - one for mural artwork at the new Horse and Groom Square at the heart of Goldthorpe and the other for artwork at the new roundabout at the western end of Goldthorpe.
The artists leading both of these projects will be announced soon.
Have you noticed the improvements being made to Welfare Park in Goldthorpe.
Perhaps the most impressive is the installation of new gateways which have been designed in conjunction with students at Astrea Academy Dearne.
We’ve also renewed access roads and pathways, provided new car parking and installed CCTV to enhance public safety.
The works are part of the Community and Cultural Hub project, one of five key projects in the Towns Fund programme, which has also included the restoration and transformation of the Dearne Playhouse.
