As the days are getting shorter and the weather is slowly getting colder, we are bringing back our Winter newsletter, where we will be sharing some useful information to help you during the winter months.
Read on for more about Pension Credit, our Warm Homes scheme, weather alerts from the Met Office, and school-age children flu vaccinations.
We know many people are missing out on Pension Credit, which gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over the State Pension age and on a low income.
Pension Credit provides a wide range of benefits, including the Winter Fuel Payment, help with your heating and housing costs and a free TV licence if you’re aged 75 or over.
If you know someone who’s over the State Pension age, please tell them about Pension Credit and help them check their eligibility online if they need a little extra support.
There’s also lots of useful information on the financial support that’s available to help you stay warm and well this winter on our More Money in Your Pocket webpage.

If you need a hand getting ready for the colder months ahead, get in touch with our Warm Homes team.
They can offer extended support and assistance on improving your home with energy saving measures, energy bills and tariffs and energy debt.
The team can also advise on grants that could be available for boiler upgrades alongside possible first-time installations and home insulation measures to make sure your home is winter ready.
Contact the team online or give them a call on 01226 773366.
Our next Healthy Homes drop-in event will take place in Barnsley Market on Friday 29 November from 8.30am to 2pm.
In connection with Fuel Poverty Awareness Day, our team will be on hand alongside other council services, external organisations and charities to provide lots of information on how you can stay warm and well through the winter.

Over the next few months, the NHS Barnsley School Age Immunisation team is running a number of free drop-in flu vaccination clinics.
The flu virus can change from one winter to the next, that's why it is important to have your child vaccinated again this year.
Having the flu vaccine will help boost the protection, and if your child is vaccinated and catches the flu, their symptoms will be milder and they will recover quicker.
