Isn’t the new Monifieth High School looking fantastic! We can’t wait to welcome teachers back on Monday and our young people starting at Monifieth High School on Thursday 21 August for the start of term.
Convener of Family, Education and Justice Committee, Cllr Heather Doran commented:
“It’s an exciting time as we get ready to open this wonderful new building next week. It will provide a fantastic environment for learning, and I know staff, young people and parents are all looking forward to the term ahead.”
All other young people (not going to Monifieth High School) start back on Tuesday 19 August.

Starting school or moving on to high school?
Starting school and moving on to high school are big steps for children and young people and for parents and carers too!
The Parent Club website has tips and advice to help calm any nerves or worries about going back to, or starting, primary school and secondary school, as well as advice on supporting mental health helping the school years to go more smoothly.

Forfar Loch Play Area and Park Consultation
We want your ideas about the Forfar Loch play area and park, especially from children, teenagers, parents and anyone who uses the park. The consultation is open until 22 August 2025
We will use your responses to help create a masterplan and designs for the play area, with plans ready autumn/winter 2025. We’ve funding for the play area only, but your thoughts on the whole park will help us plan for the future too.

Looking for one last family outing before school starts back? Head to Borrowfield Sunday Funday!
- Sunday 17 August
- Borrowfield Park and Community Centre, Montrose
- 12–4pm
- Free entry.
There will be plenty to enjoy, including local stalls, BBQ, face painting, inflatables, emergency service vehicles and much more!
