Consultation on Proposed School Admissions and Placing Request Policy
Most children in Angus will enrol in the designated primary and secondary school for their catchment area. If you want your child to attend a school in Angus other than their catchment area school, you must make a placing request.
We’re consulting on a proposal to establish a policy on Admissions and Placing Requests. This may affect you if you’re enrolling a child in school or making a placing request in the future.
Find out more about the consultation and complete it on our Engage in Angus website.
You can also come along to one of our public events to hear more:
- Wednesday 18 June, 6.30pm – Whitehills Primary School, Forfar
- Tuesday 26 August, 630pm – Arbroath High School.
Celebrating Ferryden Primary School’s Eco Success!
Ferryden Primary School was recently visited by Eco-Schools Scotland, part of the national environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful for their 30th anniversary of the Eco-Schools programme. Ferryden was chosen as one of a small number of schools across the country to be recognised for outstanding eco achievements.
During the visit, the school was presented with a certificate “Recognising efforts to protect our environment, with commendation for excellent work on Learning for Sustainability.”
This is a fantastic achievement and reflection of the hard work and commitment of the children and staff.
Well done everyone!

Very Good’ inspection report praised
Earlier this week, members of our Family, Education and Justice Committee welcomed some of our children and families team to hear about the recent Joint Inspection of Services for Children at Risk of Harm which was awarded a “Very Good” rating.
The Care Inspectorate inspection found real strengths in how we work together across services to support children and young people in Angus.
We’ve also been holding staff sessions across the council to share the findings, to highlight the positive work highlighted by the Care Inspectorate and importantly to look ahead to how we continue improving outcomes for children and young people at risk of harm in Angus.
Thank you to everyone involved – your commitment makes a real difference for children, young people and families in Angus.
