Young carers give so much, yet many get little time to rest. They need real support and meaningful breaks. This year, the theme for Young Carers Action Day (YCAD) is 'Give Me a Break – Bring Young Carers Together for a Break', emphasising the importance of providing young carers with opportunities to rest, recharge and be supported in their education and future careers.
Young carers play a vital role in their families and communities and today, we celebrate their dedication and resilience.
Schools across Angus have been involved in YCAD 2025 with Angus Carers Centre, organising wonderful events and activities to raise awareness and support their young carers. Here are just a few of the things they've been up to!

Warddykes Primary School also ran a school poster competition to raise awareness that young carers need a break.
At Inverkeilor Primary School one of their young carers shared their personal story through a Powerpoint presentation, helping to raise awareness and understanding about being a young carer.
In addition, a very brave young carer shared their story with the entire school in assembly. This takes incredible courage.
Well done to them both!
Letham Primary School celebrated with activities based around the theme 'Give Me A Break'.
It included an organised dance session with their young carers in the school and dance-off with their peers.
Big thank you to the Young Carers Champion Mrs Williamson who organised all the activities.
Everyone had a great time and had so much fun.
