Supporting Young People and Investing in the Future
This Scottish Apprenticeship Week, we’re confirming our commitment to developing our young workforce!
Following the council’s budget approval on Thursday, Council Leader Cllr Duff said:
“We are proud to invest £1.5 million over the next three years to expand our Modern and Graduate Apprenticeship programmes.
“Apprenticeships are key to developing our workforce—helping us train new staff, upskill existing employees, and give valuable opportunities for young people to kick-start their careers with the council. By investing in apprenticeships, we’re building a strong and skilled workforce for the future."
In 2025/2026, we’ll:
- support services in creating traineeships and career grade structures for career pathways
- refresh graduate apprenticeships guidance to align with our ambitions to develop our young workforce and provide career development opportunities
-
pay modern apprentices at least the real living wage.
This investment makes sure young people have the chance to join the council in a range of exciting job opportunities with clear career pathways and the support they need to succeed.
