As we welcome the start of a new school year (Tuesday 13 August), our Convener of Family, Education and Justice, Cllr Lynne Devine extends a warm welcome to children, young people, parents/carers and school staff.
Cllr Devine said:
“I am thrilled to welcome back our young people and staff for what promises to be an exciting and productive school year. A special welcome to our new primary 1 children and those making the transition to S1. These are key moments in your education journey and we look forward to supporting you every step of the way.
“I hope everyone had a lovely summer break and managed to relax and have a good time.
“Wishing you all a fantastic first day back at school. Let’s make this a school year to remember!”.

 School meal menus
You can to read and download school meal menus from Tayside Contracts' website. You can find menus for nursery, primary, and secondary schools.
Free school meals
All children in primaries 1 to 5 are entitled to free school meals, regardless of their family’s income.
Additionally, any child in primary 6 and 7 who is awarded Scottish Child Support Payment (CSP) are eligible for free school meals. Older children may also be entitled.

Paying for school meals
Our schools use ParentPay for payments for school lunches, trips and other school payments.

 Take care travelling to and from school
We want everyone to get to school safely. If taking the car for school drop off and pick up, please drive and park safely.
School friendly zones
Eleven of our primary schools have school friendly zones (Andover, Carlogie, Ferryden, Langlands, Letham, Liff, Maisondieu, Muirfield, Newtyle, Seaview and Southesk).
The zones are an experimental traffic regulation order that prevent vehicles (except for emergency services, residents with permits and blue badge holders) from entering certain streets during term time in the morning and afternoon peak periods.
The aim is to improve road safety and encourage families to school to walk, cycle or scoot to school.
