Brechin community garden
Young people in S1 to S3 from Brechin High School have taken the first step in developing the local school and community garden and allotment by planting over 400 trees in the land at Brechin West.
Brechin High School has teamed up with Scotia Homes and The Woodland Trust to develop a community garden, allotment, orchard, beehive and food forest for the school and local community to offer rural learning and improve wellbeing and sustainability opportunities.
International Workers’ Memorial Day
A new poignant and permanent memorial to honour all those in Angus who have lost their lives or been injured at work was unveiled at Forfar Community Campus on Sunday 28 April on International Workers’ Memorial Day.
At the special remembrance event, Provost Cllr Brian Boyd, alongside representatives from Angus Council, trade unions and young people from Forfar Academy and Angus Schools Music Service came together to unveil the new memorial bench.
The young people from Forfar Academy with the help and support from staff designed and made the memorial bench to be placed beside the oak tree planted last year, offering a perfect place to pause and reflect. Include any other info re bench.

Celebrating and sharing Brave Lassies Blether campaign!
Exciting news! The Brave Lassies Blether campaign was celebrated as part of the Young Women Know Campaign at the Scottish Parliament (30 April).
This project (delivered by NSPCC Scotland and The Young Women’s Movement in partnership with Angus Council) is led by a group of our senior pupils at Angus schools to raise awareness of what a healthy relationship looks and feels like and to help young people access services if they need support or feel worried or uncomfortable in their relationships.
Since launching the campaign, the young women have been working hard to develop resources and have produced videos we will be sharing with young people in our schools. They will also be going along to school assemblies to talk about the project in more detail.
Well done and thank you to the Brave Lassies Blether group!
