We hope you’ve all have had a great summer and the kids are looking forward to getting back to school this week (Tuesday 16 August).
It’s a big week ahead for most children with the return to school and childcare. Whether you're getting them ready for their first time at primary school or going through the usual back to school routine, you might find these simple, practical reminders (see below) by Parent Club Scotland help make the morning routine run a bit smoother.
For more advice and support on getting the kids prepared for a new routine again, visit Parent Club Scotland.
We hope they have a great first week back!
Lunch menus
You can check what your kids can eat on Tayside Contracts website. Their fab new menu continues into the rest of 2022 and includes some great options including meatballs in tomato sauce with pasta, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, chicken goujons, macaroni cheese and pizza!
If your child is in P1 to P5 they can get free school meals, regardless of the family income.

Sign up for ParentPay
We’ve changed the way parents and carers pay for school meals and trips, moving from iPay to ParentPay.
You’ll need to set up a new account and need an activation letter to do this. There was a delay in some letters being sent out but everyone should receive their activation letter by today. If you’re having any technical issues setting up your account or are unable to use online banking, please email accessschoolslearncontracts@angus.gov.uk for support.
If you’ve a child at secondary school, you’ll also get a pin code that they can use at the till when ordering their meal.
If you currently have a positive or negative balance in iPay fund (meals, trips, etc), this will be moved to ParentPay.

Applying for free school meals
You can apply for free school meals if you’re on certain benefits. Have a look at our website to see if your child is entitled and how to apply. Everyone gets school meals in the same way, whether it’s free or paying.
If your child is in primary one to five and entitled to free school meals you should still apply even though all children in P1 to P5 get free lunches. The application process includes applying for the school clothing grant and if eligible you will get free school meal payments during school holidays.
School friendly zones will start at Andover, Carlogie, Liff and Southesk primary schools when children return to school on Tuesday 16 August. Plans to introduce a zone at Letham Primary School have been paused to allow for further discussions with local residents. School friendly zones (started in 2021) also continue for Ferryden, Muirfield and Langlands primary schools.
School holidays
The children might just be starting back but it’s always helpful to have a link to the school holidays for future school year holiday dates.
