 P7 transition to secondary school
Moving from primary school to secondary school is an exciting time, but for some children it can also be a daunting prospect. This year (and last year) our schools have had to change their usual transition programme for our primary 7 children moving to secondary school to meet Covid-19 guidance but more importantly to keep children and staff safe and limit the disruption to your child’s learning.
It’s all a bit different depending on the secondary school your child is moving to and this is because buildings, classes, the number of children involved varies – unfortunately it can’t be a one size fits all programme for everyone.
Our schools and staff are making the transition as good as they can for your child, whether that be by holding virtual tours or outdoor sessions over the next few weeks. We appreciate it might not be what you or your child hoped would happen but I’m sure you’ll agree that safety comes first.
You’ll receive information about your child’s classes before they finish up in June. Having this will help them feel prepared for when they start in August.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Three primary schools in Angus are set to trial school exclusion zones to improve road safety and encourage families to school to walk, cycle or scoot to school, after councillors approve plans.
The proposals will see traffic restrictions put in place from 7 June 2021 on certain streets beside Ferryden Primary School in Montrose, Muirfield Primary School in Arbroath and Langlands Primary School in Forfar in the morning and afternoon to help make sure pupils can arrive and leave school safely.

SQA National Qualifications 2021
The Scottish Government decided that National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher exams will not go ahead in the 2020-2021 school session due to ongoing concerns about the impact of Covid-19. Instead of exams, teachers will assess learner’s results using the Alternative Certification Model (ACM).
To find out what this means for your child, we've added information to our website.
