Stay in the loop with what's happening in our schools

We can't wait to welcome children back to school next week

All school pupils, unless shielding, will return to school after the Easter Holidays on Monday 19 April. Children who are shielding should stay at home until 26 April, in line with advice from the Chief Medical Officer.When back at school:

there is no requirement for physical distancing between children and young people in primary or secondary school
adults within a school should keep a two-metre distancing with children and other adults wherever possible
secondary schools may have additional measures in place - information about this will be available directly from your child’s school
two-metre distancing is not needed for pupils travelling on school transport
we ask that all young people attending secondary school wear a face covering at all times (apart from those who are exempt). Please provide your child with a face covering. Limited numbers of face coverings will be available in school should anyone arrive without one.
adults in primary schools should wear a face covering when moving around the school in corridors, office and admin areas, canteens (except when dining) and other confined communal areas, (including staff rooms and toilets).
adults in secondary schools should wear a face covering.

Covid-19 symptoms

If your child, or anyone else in the household develops symptoms of Covid-19, please self-isolate and book a test in line with national guidance. You can book a test online.

If your child is identified as a close contact of a confirmed case of Covid-19 they:

must not come to school
should self-isolate in line with national guidance.

Close contacts should also book a Covid-19 test. A negative test does not reduce the requirement to self-isolate.

Additional in-service days for secondary schools - 31 May and 1 June

Two additional in-service days have been set aside for teachers to complete the work needed for awarding National Qualifications. All secondary schools in Angus will be closed to pupils on Monday 31 May and Tuesday 1 June.

Staff will provide learning tasks in advance which should be completed independently at home. Primary schools will be open as usual on these days.

Lockdown lowdown

The next phase of a crucial survey of young people in Scotland has been launched to track the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the lives, aspirations and wellbeing of young Scots.

This is the third LockdownLowdown survey carried out since March 2020 and will focus on the education, employment prospects and mental health of young people, as well as involvement in youth work services.

Easing of some restrictions

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the further easing of some restrictions this week.

From Friday 16 April:

you can travel anywhere in Scotland for outdoor socialising, recreation or informal exercise
six adults from up to six households can meet outdoors.

Angus will move into Level 3 from Level 4 on the 26 April which means that shops will fully reopen with pubs, cafes and restaurants fully open outdoors, and indoors on a restricted basis.

You can call the Educational Psychology Service to talk through any concerns you have about your child’s education or wellbeing. This is over and above what you might discuss with their school.
