Taste of the Sea Comedy Night

comedy night

Taste Of The Sea Comedy Night is on the Saturday 7:00pm - 9:30pm

Clinton Baptiste, from Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, will top the bill at the ever-popular Taste Cumbria comedy night alongside a great line-up of stand up comics.

The MC for the evening is Cumbrian festival favourite Mike Wilkinson who compered the event brilliantly in Maryport last year – once he was freed from a loo with a dodgy lock! He has supported the likes of Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas and Ross Noble, as well as headlining clubs all over the country.

Iain Hume promises ‘good classic Scottish banter’ and is ‘wonderfully deadpan with impeccable timing’ according to his reviewers, while Roger Monkhouse has a ‘stage-prowling style’ and is ‘a master of observational comedy’.

Taste of the Sea Gin Tasting

Gin tasting

Taste Of The Sea Gin Tasting Evening is on the Sunday evening 4:30pm - 6pm.

Cumbria Distilling Company is proud to present a gin tasting evening hosted at Her Citi on Sunday 14th August – a perfect way to round off our second Taste of the Sea festival!

We only have 30 tickets available for this exclusive event so make sure you get yours ASAP.

What’s included? – You will be tasting three gin-based drinks and a cocktail, along with brilliantly prepared tapas by Debbie at Her Citi

As we head into the summer season, it has been recognised the mountain rescue team are receiving an increased amount of rescue calls.

Whether you are new or experienced to exploring, it is still very important that you plan ahead. Keep the following tips in mind before stepping out to start your journey:

  • Check the weather – the weather can be unpredictable at times. Plan how long your trip is going to take and check the weather for that timescale.
  • Make sure you have the right equipment – research what equipment you need on your trip.
  • Always take a fully charged phone – in case of an emergency, you will always need to make sure your phone is charged to call 999. However, you may not always get signal. Pack a whistle and torch to signal for help.
  • Know your limits!

Award-winning forest’s trails to reopen ahead of summer break

whinlatter cyclist

Following closure for essential forestry works, the Forestry England team at Whinlatter have this week reopened a popular area of the forest, just in time for the summer
holidays.

The area around Revelin Moss car park, including the Altura South mountain bike trail, has been closed for much of 2022 to allow important thinning work to take place safely.

Alongside the reopened trails, visitors are invited to experience the forest through a series
of guided nature walks, helping them discover the huge variety of natural life, often right
underneath their feet. Covering both reopened areas and other parts of the forests, these
events cost just £5 per person, with information on how to book available through the
forest’s website (forestryengland.uk/Whinlatter).
